Why do I need video? If your desperately trying to gain market share, get exposure or continue to dominate your local tattoo market, video is one of the greatest tools you can have in your arsenal. We’ve recently started offering video services ranging from commercials, tattoo portfolio videos, logo animations, walk through videos and more. Here are five ways to use video for your shop.

1. Local Commercials
Local commercials work. It’s a fact. The problem is that local commercials tend to look local. Now many shops don’t care as long as it gets butts in the seats, but a high quality commercial can stand out from the crowd of quickly thrown together spots done by people who want your airtime money more than they care about how your spot looks. Also the great beauty of having a really nice spot, means that you can use it for many years to come on various local and cable stations. The cost over the years is practically pennies.

2. Trade Show Videos
There you are, in the booth next to 100 other tattoo artist all vying for that elusive walk-by to stop and see what you have to offer. How do you stand out? Videos. A great portfolio video can get people to stop and look at your work. An awesome logo introduction can cut through the visual noise and capture attention. A great commercial highlighting your artist and services can convince when your sales pitch can’t. All you need is a flat screen and DVD player or a nice laptop and you’re good to go!

3. Web Promotion
Remember way back at number one when we talked local commercials? Well guess what? There is way to make that commercial do double if not triple duty. And all without having to spend another dime on airtime. Take your video and put it on your youtube channel, or submit it to dozens of videos sites and optimize your videos to link back to your website. Post your commercial or tour video on your google places. Share it on facebook and let others do the work by sharing it with their friends. All of this can help boost your search rankings for your website and lead to more customers from the Internet.

4. Website Enhancement
People love video and people love websites. But according to certain studies, the average user spends about 1 minute on a website before they make up their mind to stay or leave. Putting your videos on your homepage can convince your users to stay longer, and the longer they stay, the more likely they are to buy. A nice sales video, picture tour or portfolio video can showcase your shop and convert online visitors into real life walk ins.

5. Branding and marketing
You know what a strong brand does for your shop. It gives you a name, a reputation, an emotional connection to your customers, inspires loyalty and prompts your customers to buy. A great video, especially a great logo animation used on all of your video campaigns helps solidify your brand. Also if you have flat screens, a great looping video detailing your services and specials can increase your sales in-shop. Over time, your customers and your general market will be able to see your logo animation and instantly identify you and your message. And isn’t that the point? When they think tattoo, they think you and nobody else.

4 Tips For Making A Video Portfolio Video For Your Tattoo Shop.

Creating an awesome slide show can do a lot for your Tattoo Shop. We all know that people love video, both online, at home and at conventions. Here are few tips on how a little preplanning and forethought can turn your video portfolio into a great tool to help boost your sales and spread your name.

1. Picking the right pictures. They say that image isn’t everything, but when it comes to video, of course it is. Picking the right images can be the difference between making and losing a sale. You want to start with your best foot forward, if you have some great mind-blowing tats in your portfolio, get them on the screen quick. Now I’m not recommending you blow it all upfront, you also want to end strong as well. Split the difference on your best ones so you can begin and end strong. This theory applies to not only your portfolio pieces but also any pictures of your shop and staff. Use the best pictures possible. If you have to, grab a digital camera and take dozens or hundreds of pictures. Choose the best dozen or so of the lot and send them to us for your video portfolio. Of course we can do color correction and editing to tweak your pictures so they’ll look impressive to your viewers and customers.

Here is another quick tip about pictures. If you have some of clients who have given you a glowing testimonial about your shop, send them and the testimonial and we’ll create a few slides showing off your client, your work and telling the world how much they love your shop.

2. Choosing the right music. Music is the second half of the video portfolio equation. Music says more about who you are than most people can imagine. Is your shop hardcore? Reflect that in your music. Do you cater to an urban crowd? Pick music that will attract that audience. At conferences and events music can draw passerby’s in to check out your display and eventually buy from you.

3. Branding your video. There three main ways to brand your video. Adding your shop name at the beginning to introduce your shop. Adding your web address or phone number during the video, and putting all of your contact information and/or images of your location at the end of your video. Also if you have a logo and you are putting it online, put your logo in the corner as a bug/watermark to prevent theft of your videos and to increase your branding in your video portfolio. All of this is crucial, because the point is to get people to remember your name, so even if they don’t buy today they still walk away remember who you are and what you do. For those who really want to make a strong impact, check out our animated logos which can be used in the beginning and end of your videos that help you stand out and brand your shop.
